US Elite to host Instructional/Recruiting Camp Aug. 1

US Elite National Director, Mark Helsel, will be the lead instructor at the first annual US Elite Camp. The camp will be held at Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore, MD on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Helsel, who has helped over 400 players move on to college and professional baseball, says the camp will be different than most camps. “We have always given our US Elite players alot of great information specific to what college coaches are looking for in players, which is one of the reasons we’ve had so much success. But, as I travel around the country I see so many players not paying attention to those details. Therefore, we want to run a camp designed to help players understand what they need to be doing to increase the odds of getting a scholarship. I am 100% sure they will leave this camp with valuable information”.

The camp will be for 13U-16U players. Players will participate in a pro style showcase and be given instruction on how to maximize opportunities at showcases. They will also be given skill instruction, but Helsel says the instruction on what he calls “the finer things” will be the most important information of the camp. “College coaches and pro scouts have radars and stopwatches for the easy measurables. But, there are so many other things they look at and players who know this information can dramatically improve their odds at separating themselves from the masses and really stand out”.

US Elite coaches will also be on hand to evaluate any players who express interest in playing on a US Elite team this fall or in 2019. “A camp setting is a good way to evaluate players, said Helsel. We get to see how coachable they are, and how quickly they pick up new concepts”.

Registration for the camp is open and roster spots are limited. The fee for the camp is $95.
