I grew up in Edgewood, Maryland and played high school baseball for the Edgewood Rams. Following high school, I earned my Secondary Education English degree at Salisbury University. After college I returned to Harford County and began teaching High School English and coaching baseball on the high school level. My first 12 years were spent at Joppatowne High School where I was the head varsity baseball coach and assistant athletic director. In 2006 I transferred to C. Milton Wright High School and I spent the next 6 seasons as the head varsity baseball coach. In my years as a head varsity baseball coach I was blessed to work with extraordinary families and young men. I was able to help many young baseball players realize their dreams of playing baseball on the Division I,II,III and JUCO level.
In addition, on the field our teams enjoyed a great deal of success. Through the hard work of the players, families, and coaches we were able to win 4 regional championships and the 2010 Maryland 3A State Championship.
Over the years I have been able to participate in many great camps and clinics, including 5 years as a lead hitting instructor with the Ripken Baseball Camps.
In 2012 I transferred to Bel Air High School and I have spent the past 6 years as the school’s athletic director. I have recently stepped down from that position so that I could begin to devote more time to my family and coaching within the U.S. Elite Baseball Program.
As an educator I see the baseball field as an extension of the classroom. The same principals that serve students well in the classroom can lead to success on the ball field. Just as every great student must study and pay attention in class, great baseball players need to focus and prepare for success on the diamond. Of course, there is never, ever a substitute for the student/athlete who wants to put in the time and work hard.
Away from the baseball field I enjoy rooting for the Baltimore Ravens football team, and I love spending time with my wife, Kelly, and my children, Andrew and Michaela.
