My name is Andrew Hopkinson or Drew for short. I am a normal teenager who just happens to love playing baseball. I have been playing baseball since I was 4 years old. I’m currently 5’8, 160 pounds but I continuously lift weights and run to get bigger, better and faster. I enjoying training and playing with the teams I play with during the season. However, when not in baseball season, I enjoy swimming on the varsity team of my high school. I have been swimming for seven years and feel that this keeps me in shape during the off season.
As for academics, I currently have a 3.65 GPA. At this time, I would like to be an Physical Therapist. As of now, I would like to attend a large university with a great baseball program.
I’m sure many things will change between now and when I go to college, but I look at my journey leading up to college as the chance to grow as a player and a leader. The experience I have received through church league baseball, travel baseball and school baseball, has given me the opportunity to mature and grow as a leader which I feel will enable me to play at the college level. Over the many years of playing, I have been able to develop the skills needed to perform well under pressure and adapt quickly to different situations on the field.
As I advance through my college career, my goal is to enjoy the challenge of helping my team be successful all the while enjoying the sport I love so much. Ultimately, however, I would like to play in MLB! Until then, I will continue to work hard, learn new skills and do the best I can to be successful.
