Matt was a four year varsity standout at Havre de Grace High School before being drafted in the 42nd round of the 1998 Amateur Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. After high school, he went on to pitch for three years at West Virginia University before ultimately being drafted and signing with the Cleveland Indians in the 24th round of the 2001 Draft. He then went on to play in the Indians organization for 3 years.

Matt currently oversees the pitching staff and works with hitters and outfielders alongside Coach Blevins at Havre de Grace High School. Prior to joining US Elite, Matt also served as a pitching coach for the Maryland Legends Travel Baseball Organization for five seasons.
